How to build a temporary wall

If you live in a rented living space or have a one-room apartment, which is required for some time to make a two-room room, you will suit the installation of a simple temporary wall. The temporary wall does not need to be framed, and it is easy to remove it with a minimum mess.

Before building even temporary walls, not to mention partitions from more durable materials, such as those that offers a low -rise home building, it is worth consulting with a specialist and be sure to ask permission from the tenant. The wall may be temporary, but the design is weighty and its installation, although not much, is invading the current repair.

You will need a material for isolation, drywall, wooden boards, wooden wedges, nails or screws, a disc saw, a drill and a hammer.

Isolation is necessary to protect existing walls, ceiling and floor from damage, as well as to ensure the required pressure for the safe placement of the temporary wall. Before you do something, apply the seal insulation on the surface with which the temporary wall (floor, ceiling and side walls) will contact).

First of all, you will need to cut two relatively thin boards (2×4 inches) under the length of your temporary wall. They will play the role of a kind of frame and place on the floor and on the ceiling. Measure the height from the floor to the ceiling, taking into account the width of the frame. Install the lower board on the sealant, then (using the assistant) fix the upper board to the seals at the top. If you install the door in the temporary wall or if there are children in your house, pay special attention to the strength of all fasteners. Screws on the ceiling will be more appropriate than nails.

If you want to inhibit sound transmission through a temporary wall, add fiberglass insulation in the cavity and, finally, fix the panel of drywall on the boards.

The finished wall can be painted or poured with wallpaper. You can add a skirting board and other details to the temporary wall to make it appropriately appropriate to other walls.
